Ill man conned out of £1,000
Two sisters from Milford Haven appeared at Swansea crown court judge yesterday, accused of defrauding an ill man out of £1,000.
Pauline Georgina Roberts, aged 31, of Hawthorn Path, Mount Estate, and Sasha Roberts, 25, of Prescelly Place, faced three charges of falsely obtaining money from Stuart Collett.
They were accused of obtaining three money transfer orders by falsely representing that HSBC cheques were valid for sums of £100, £150 and £750.
Pauline Roberts entered pleaded guilty to each charge.
Sasha Roberts denied the offences and her pleas were accepted by the prosecution. The Judge, Mr Recorder Peter Heywood, entered formal verdicts of not guilty in her case.
Pauline Roberts was told she would be sentenced in mid April after a probation officer has prepared a report into her background.
The judge, Mr Recorder Heywood, said at this stage he intended to pass a non custodial sentence and to order Roberts to carry out unpaid work for the community.
She was granted bail until the sentencing hearing.
Mr Collett sat throughout the hearing sustained by a portable oxygen machine.
